Reasons for abnormal noise of high-speed diaphragm coupling
2023-06-14

Introduce:

High-speed diaphragm couplings consist of several sets of diaphragms (stainless steel plates) that are staggered to connect the two halves of the coupling with bolts. Each set of diaphragms consists of several pieces stacked together. The high-speed diaphragm coupling compensates the relative displacement of the coupling shaft through the elastic deformation of the diaphragm. It is a high-performance flexible coupling with strong metal elements, no oil, compact structure, high strength, long service life, no rotation gap, not affected by temperature and oil pollution, and has the characteristics of acid and alkali resistance. Next, the high-speed diaphragm coupling manufacturer will explain to you the reasons for the abnormal noise of the high-speed diaphragm coupling.

Reasons for the abnormal sound of the high-speed diaphragm coupling:

1. The distance between the two half-couplings is too wide, causing the diaphragm to be subject to a large axial force, which will wear the twisted holes or twisted bolts and cause abnormal noise.

2. If the axial offset of the two halves of the coupling is too large or the deflection angle is too large, it will also cause vibration and abnormal noise when the equipment is running.

3. When the speed of the active end and the passive end are different, it will also cause vibration and abnormal noise when the equipment is running.

4. The speed code disc of the motor is faulty, causing the speed of the motor to be fast and slow, which makes the diaphragm coupling abnormal sound.

Summarize:

The high-speed diaphragm coupling makes the left and right centers of gravity close to the supporting bearings on both sides of the unit, and the additional bending moment on the rotor shaft head is small, which is conducive to high-speed and stable operation. The intermediate joint stops connecting, the whole assembly is disassembled, and the entire coupling maintains neutral dynamic balance even if it is installed and disassembled many times. The distance between the two flexible bodies (diaphragms) is large, and the capacity of the coupling absorption unit is not suitable. The high-speed diaphragm coupling adopts AISI301 or nickel alloy rigid flexible elements, the tensile strength can reach 150-170kgf, based on 10000 revolutions per minute, its fatigue life can reach 20 years, and other parts adopt AIS4140 or equivalent high-strength light weight alloy, therefore, the coupling has good mechanical properties such as light weight, axial stiffness, and torsional strength, which can protect the output shaft of the unit and prolong the service life of the unit.
